![]() ![]() In 2002 a rapist, named Matias Reyes, confessed and the DNA test confirmed he was the only perpetrator of the hideous crime. All the youngsters involved in the case will later admit they were forced to confess a crime they never committed, through coercion and intimidation. Fairstein, after 30 hours of questioning, obtained from them a perjured confession. One of these was the famous Central Park Jogger, in 1990, a case in which 5 adolescents were found guilty of assault and rape. National and local media closely followed many of the cases Linda worked on, crimes that shocked the public opinion and that were often difficult to process by an overloaded, and far from infallible, justice system. This incredible experience made her one of the most authoritative national experts in serial violent crimes, including sex crimes. She then became a prosecuting attorney of the State of New York, working on cases related to violent crimes, particularly those who affected women, for 25 years. After graduating at the Vassar College, in 1969, she earned a law degree at the University of Virginia in 1972. ![]() Her father, however, opposed her passion inadvertently sparkling her interest for intrigues and plots, which later will play a central part in shaping her life and style. Since she was a child, she has loved narrative literature and writing has always resided among her dreams. Linda Fairstein was born in New York State on the 5th of May 1947. ![]()
